During Prohibition, although no alcohol were allowed, it was used in the medical community. They believed that alcohol could be use as a medication based on the American Civil War. Many whiskey was used to keep injured soldiers' pain low. When people found out that they can get a prescription by their doctors, many Americans looked no further than their doctors, who could lawfully write the prescription for whiskey. As Prohibition goes by, many doctors continued to prescribed for people "disorder." Although people could get alcohol prescribe to them, there's an certain amount they could only receive. Not only did doctors prescribe it to their patient, but for themselves too. Some doctors even made profit by selling it illegally.
